DP William Ruto Cast His Vote In Sugoi
William Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate, voted early on Tuesday at the Kosachei Primary School polling place in Sugoi.
Rachel Ruto and Dr. Ruto arrived at the location together.
After a quick prayer in which they requested calm and peace at the polls, the pair then made their way to the location.
Together with Mrs. Ruto, he then proceeded through the six steps of voting, after which he left.
Shortly after, in a press conference, Ruto voiced optimism for the country’s continued calm and stated that he anticipated independent voting.
“I feel very good that after many months of campaigning and speaking to the people of Kenya, this morning is the D-day and we have come to vote. We want a peaceful process,” said Ruto.
“The process of choosing the next leader of Kenya is underway I want to ask all voters to do this exercise, vote peacefully and intentionally. I am confident the people of Kenya will make the right choice.”
Ruto asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is aware of the crucial role it will play in the process, to lead without using force.
“I want to ask the IEBC, you are an independent organisation, we expect that you will carry out this exercise respecting your mandate and we wish you well as you undertake this monumental exercise,” he said.
Other leaders, including as Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, were standing on each side of DP Ruto.
