Didmus Barasa, Kimilili MP, Shoots And Kills His Opponent’s Aide In Bungoma county
Didmus Barasa, a member of parliament for Kimilili, is wanted by Bungoma County police for reportedly killing the aide to Brian Khaemba, his opponent.
On a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket, Mr. Khaemba was running against Barasa for the Kimilili MP seat. It is stated that at around 6 o’clock in the evening, he went to the Chebukwabi polling place to see the ballots being counted.
However, he ran across the incumbent lawmaker at the voting location and opted to depart shortly after arriving.
Mr. Khaemba headed towards his car but, according to a police report seen , “Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him (Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave…”
The aspiring MP’s driver, one Joshua Nasokho, is however said to have defied Barasa’s order and ignited the vehicle.
“Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled,” read the police report.
“He was rushed to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Scene visited by the police accompanied by Scenes of Crime Personnel from Bungoma County, where the scene was processed and documented.”
The deceased’s body is still present at the mentioned hospital and is awaiting transfer to the Delight Funeral Home.
