Didmus Baraza Pleaded Not Guilty For Killing Brain Olunga
Didmus Barasa, a Kimilili MP who is accused of killing Brian Olunga by shooting him, has refuted the accusations in court.
Barasa, who entered a plea at the Bungoma Law Courts on Monday, requested his release on bond and his attorney Nathan Tororei defended him.
Due to the seriousness of the offense Barasa is accused of perpetrating, the prosecution, represented by attorney Grace Mukangu, sought the court to set a high bond amount for him.
Additionally, the prosecution requested that the court order Barasa not to travel to Kimilili Constituency, particularly the incident site, as he might sway the case’s witnesses.
A decision by Judge Paul John Otieno about the legislator’s release on bail after 14 days in police custody is expected soon.
Brian Olunga, 21, was allegedly shot in the head on August 9 at the Chebukwabi voting place in Bungoma County by Barasa.
Olunga worked for Brian Khaemba, Barasa’s rival in the Kimilili Parliamentary contest.
