Details Of Missing IEBC Official’s Last Conversation With His Daughter
Daniel Musyoka Mbolu, the missing returning officer for Embakasi East, has revealed the final phone call he had with his wife Tabitha and daughter Prudence before going missing at the constituency tallying center.
On August 11 at 9:45 a.m., immediately after arriving at work, Daniel Mbolu disappeared from the East African School of Aviation constituency tallying center.
Prudence revealed in an interview with The Standard that she last spoke to her father on the phone on August 10 – 24 hours before he was reported missing – but the call was cut short because he appeared preoccupied with his work at the tallying center.
Unfazed, she also texted him on WhatsApp, sending him words of inspiration that read: “We are thinking of you as we count down to D-Day. You can do this.”
In response, her father said, “Thank you, my dear “very soon after.
Prudence described how she tried unsuccessfully to call her father on Thursday since his phone was off.
“My mother attempted to call him on Thursday, August 11, but he was not available. We didn’t really think about it because IEBC officials were busy counting the votes.
“In the afternoon, however, we expected to see him announcing the results for Embakasi East constituency but it was someone different and not him. Upon seeing that, we tried calling him again but he was unavailable,” she explained.
Prudence revealed that her father’s colleagues at IEBC called her uncle after they failed to reach the missing officer on phone.
“My uncle was told that Musyoka had been unreachable since 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Colleagues at the tallying centre were looking for him and could not find him,” she said.
According to a senior police officer based in Embakasi East, they are pursuing certain leads and attempting to track down Musyoka using the last detectable signal from his phone.
In an effort to find the missing cop who had not slept for three days after the voting process started, the police indicated that several teams have been sent out to scour the city and explore various leads.
