CS Trade Announces The Birth Of Kenya Square After China Square Stand Off
Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, has unveiled the development of Kenya Square, the country’s first multi-purpose shopping mall.
According to the CS, at least 17 acres of area are available for rent, and ‘hustlers’ are encouraged to reserve their stalls.
Products offered at Kenya Square will be produced and manufactured in Kenya.
This comes just a week after the controversial retail and wholesale company, China Square, was accused of shortchanging local traders by selling ‘almost everything’ at lower rates, sparking protests from Nairobi traders.
While some argue that the Trade Ministry simply copied an idea from another country rather than being creative, others praise the CS for providing Kenyan traders with a new market for their goods.
