CS Moses Kuria Says Kenya Is Open For Business Not Dumping
Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, has recently sparked controversy with his decree on China Square, a Chinese-owned business that runs at Kenyatta University’s Unicity mall.
Kuria first hinted at a plan to purchase out China Square’s lease and turn the space over to Kenyan traders.
“We welcome Chinese investors to Kenya as manufacturers not traders,” he said.
The trade CS’s views have since sparked controversy, with some Kenyan leaders accusing him of Xenophobic prejudice toward the investor.
“Our policies should not have “a racist” undertone.CS Hon Moses Kuria is obviously wrong in his onslaught against Mr. Lei Cheng of China Square. “Kenya is open for business” is Kuria’s mantra, yet he is at war with Cheng for succeeding in his business model (selling cheapest),” lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi remarked.
