CS Magoha Pushes Opening Of Schools To Thursday, August 15th
The reopening of schools has now been postponed by the Ministry of Education from the previously stated Monday, 15, to Thursday, 18, 2022.
In a statement released on Saturday, Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha explained that the revisions were necessary due to an anticipated delay in the voting process.
“Following the conduct of our National Elections on Tuesday 9th August, 2022 the process of tallying of ballots is still ongoing. Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the reopening of ALL Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August, 2022 until Thursday 18th August, 2022,” said CS Magoha.
The most recent statement, he continued, trumps all prior ones the ministry had issued about the reopening of basic education facilities.
After ordering the immediate closure of schools in a statement on August 1st, Magoha, who had previously stated on July 31 that schools will reopen on August 15, suddenly revised the date to August 11.
Parents were disappointed by the abrupt order to close schools, which prompted the Education CS to apologize for the disruption.
Later, through a statement on August 10, he pushed the date up to August 15.
