Comedian Jalang’o Won The Lang’ata MP Seat
The comedian Felix Odiwor, also known as Jalang’o, won a fiercely contested election to become the new Lang’ata Member of Parliament.
Nixon Korir, the current MP, received 36,836 votes, while Mr. Odiwor, who was running on an ODM Party ticket, received 38,948 votes.
The former radio host was taking a commanding lead as of Wednesday, according to provisional election results, and Mr. Korir, who was running under the UDA party, had already conceded defeat.
Korir congratulated his rival for winning and thanked his supporters and the residents of Lang’ata for providing him the opportunity to serve them in the National Assembly in a Facebook post.
“From the results that we’ve tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata,” said Korir..
“To the people of Langata, I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It’s been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation building and service to the people.”
