Brian Olunga, Man Shot By Didmus Barasa Laid To Rest
On Saturday, Brian Olunga, a supporter of Kimilili politician and attorney Brian Khaemba, was buried in Malava, Kakamega County.
Didmus Barasa, the incoming MP for Kimilili, is accused of killing Brian on August 9, 2022.
Khaemba, who was running for the Kimilili MP seat under the DAP-K party, expressed his sorrow at the death of his aide and promised that his murderer will be brought to justice.
“As we bid him goodbye, we pray for nothing but justice to his family and the culprit to be held liable,” said Khaemba.
Following a bullet wound to the head, Olunga died from profuse bleeding, according to the autopsy.
After being ordered to be arrested by Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, the primary suspect, Barasa, turned himself in to the police.
In order for the DCI to further investigate the incident and allow witnesses, including NYS and IEBC officials, the chance to record testimony, Barasa is currently being held in custody.
Detectives in Bungoma are looking into a gunshot that occurred at Chebukhwabi Primary School and resulted in one death.
Police are seeking for Didmus Barasa, a Kimilili MP, in connection with the shooting, according to Samuel Kimiti, the commissioner for Bungoma County.
According to accounts, the victim was a supporter of Brian Khaemba, his main competitor and a member of the DAP-K party.
“We want him to surrender to police wherever he is and if any member of the public spots him let them alert police,” the Bungoma County Commissioner said.
Didmus Barasa, the newly elected MP for Kimilili, addressed the media and provided an explanation of the events surrounding the deadly shooting of Brian Olunga, a member of his opponent’s staff.
Barasa claimed that when he learned that security personnel were looking for him, he had been in Nairobi.
He denied claims that he shot Olunga and said that there had been instances of instability and shootings in the Kimilili neighborhood prior to the election, and he too had been a victim.
“I drove all the way from Nairobi to this place and I am ready to corporate with the police so that I can also know what killed that young man.”
