Autopsy Reveals Brian Olunga Died Of Excessive Bleeding After Being Shot By MP Didmus Barasa
After being shot at close range and having the bullet pierce the right side of his head, Brian Olunga, the late bodyguard of politician Brian Khaemba, died from heavy bleeding, according to a postmortem on his body.
The two-hour autopsy was performed by DM Muchana, a government pathologist for the Western region, on Tuesday at Bright Mortuary in Kimilili.
He received assistance from DCI homicide investigator Francis Nyabutho and the deceased’s family physician Dickson Olunga.
“We have carried out the postmortem and we have all agreed that the deceased died after bleeding when the bullet hit his right side of the head and stuck in the brain,” said Muchana.
Didmus Barasa, the incoming MP for Kimilili, purportedly shot and killed the deceased last week.
On Monday, MP Didmus Barasa appeared in court in Bungoma, where the prosecution was given ten additional days to hold him while the incident’s inquiry was still ongoing.
According to the ODPP, witnesses in the case are afraid to testify in court in Barasa’s defense.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji, will confirm the “state of investigations before deciding to charge,” the ODPP reports, on Wednesday, August 24.
On the evening of August 9th elections day, Didmus Barasa is suspected of murdering Brian Olunga, a supporter of Brian Khaemba, his major contender for the Kimilili MP seat.
