Alfred Mutua Campaigns For Wavinya Ndeti Of Azimio At The Kenya Kwanza Rally
When he officially endorsed and campaigned for Wavinya Ndeti for governor when Kenya Kwanza had Johnstone Muthama of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) running for the same position, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua created a commotion at a rally presided over by DP William Ruto.
As the leader of the Maendeleo Chap Chap party publicly announced that he would not be voting for the UDA chairman and urged the crowd to join him in electing the former Transport CAS as his replacement, Ruto stood motionless.
Mutua stated that after carefully considering each contender, he has come to the conclusion that Ndeti is the most qualified to lead the county after he steps down.
The Machakos county boss confirmed to the crowd that he will himself vote for Ndeti as his governor on August 9th polls.
“I want to announce to the Kamba community that I have worked for you for ten years. I am now leaving you as the Machakos governor. I want to tell you who I will leave you with as your next governor.
“My vote I will give to Wavinya Ndeti because she is the one who can bring development to Machakos County. I defeated Wavinya Ndeti several times. I will vote for Deputy President William Ruto as my fifth President, Rita Ndunge (Woman Representative candidate) and Wavinya Ndeti as my governor,” Mutua stated.
At a Kenya Kwanza rally led by DP Ruto on Saturday in Machakos, he made the comments.
Recent political realignments have favored the Wiper party candidate, with Francis Maliti, Mutua’s deputy and Maendeleo Chap Chap Machakos’ candidate for governor, dropping his bid and endorsing Ndeti earlier this week.
Nzioka Waita, the leader of the CCU party, Johnson Muthama, the national chairman of the UDA, and Rose Mulwa, the leader of the ELP, have all expressed interest in running for governor of Machakos.
