Aisha Jumwa Loses Kilifi Governor Seat To Gideon Mung’aro
After crushing his main rival Aisha Jumwa, former Devolution Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Gideon Mung’aro has won the governorship of Kilifi.
Mungaro, who was running for the seat on an ODM ticket, received 143,773 votes overall, while Jumwa, the UDA’s nominee, received 65,893 votes.
Along with his deputy governor-elect, Flora Chibule, he received his clearance certificate from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) authorities.
With 64,321 votes, George Kithi of the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) party finished third.
Amason Kingi, the current governor who has led Kilifi since 2013, is being replaced by Mung’aro.
David Noti of the Umoja Summit Party, Alponce Dzombo of Safina, Michael Jefwa of Ford-Kenya, and Franco Esposito are some of the other contenders who came in last (independent).
