Aden Duale Discloses A Detailed Account Regarding His Meeting With President Uhuru
Aden Duale, a member of parliament for Garissa Township, has spoken out about his choice to back William Ruto, the vice president, rather than President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Duale claims that when DP Ruto and Uhuru severed connections, President Kenyatta approached him while he was serving as the majority leader of the National Assembly and asked him which side he would prefer.
Duale claimed he chose to join DP Ruto’s squad, saying he was unable to join the other team that “humiliated the DP and his office.”
“The president told me that I have a split loyalty and that I had to decide between me and the Deputy President. And I asked him if the marriage is no longer tenable and he said ‘yes’,” Duale to NTV on Saturday.
“So I said I cannot coalesce around a group that wants to humiliate, demean and despise both the character and the stature of the office of the Deputy President. I told him ‘Mr President I am ready to go, let me relinquish myself as the leader of majority and look for somebody else’.”
The lawmaker went on to justify his choice to back the DP, saying that they were close friends and that during all of their political interactions, he had never betrayed him.
“William Ruto, to the best of my knowledge until now, in the whole of his political life, he has done good deeds to me. There is no single bad deed that William Ruto has done to me or to my family and my constituency,” said Duale.
Deputy President William Ruto, according to Duale, who is now a member of the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza, is the only leader who can be compared to President Kibaki’s great leadership and who the nation deserves to serve as its head of state.
