Robbers Steal Police Firearm, Gas Cylinder And Radios From Police House In Busia
Police in Busia have initiated an inquiry into an alleged theft of a firearm, a gas cylinder, and two radios from police residences in Milimani Estate near the Kenya-Uganda border.
According to a police report, Busia county Commander Bishar Muhamed stepped inside his residence about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday to retire after a long day’s work, only to wake up the next morning to find his room destroyed and in a state of disarray.
“He woke up feeling headache and dizziness only to see his suitcase kept near his bed lying on the floor with the clothing scattered all over,” read the report.
Commander Muhamed discovered that his firearm, a Czeska Pistol, and 15 rounds of ammo had vanished from his suitcase. He then notified county police, who responded to the spot.
Officers arrived and discovered that the burglars had entered the residence through the back door after dousing the room with a stupefying chemical.
According to the allegation, the unknown individuals also broke into another servant quarter belonging to Christopher Ewoi, who was not in the house at the time.
A 6 kg gas cylinder and a radio from the main house were stolen, as was another radio from the servant quarters.
A K9 tracking dog was reportedly sent to the area and picked up some smell, which led it to a feeder road leading to Uganda, but it vanished before crossing the border.
A manhunt has been started to apprehend the fugitives and recover the firearm.
