How To Clear From CRB: 3 Easy Steps
The article explains 3 simple steps on how to clear from CRB
Thousands of Kenyans are listed on the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) due to late payment or failed payment for their debts. Being listed on CRB does not mean it is the end of life as far as borrowing is concerned. You can always be cleared with the CRB and be given a second chance on borrowing. Some Kenyans have successfully applied to be cleared.
Simple steps on how to clear from CRB online:
- Know Who Forwarded Your Details To CRB
- Contact The Person or Company That Listed You On CRB
- Apply For A CRB Certificate
1. Know Who Forwarded Your Details To CRB
Some people may know who listed them while others do not know, especially if a different person used their details to apply for a loan. You may also be listed on CRB if someone you guaranteed when they were applying for a loan, fail to pay their loan.
How to check who forwarded your name on CRB:
- On your phone using SAFARICOM LINE, dial *433#, then follow the procedure given.
- You can also visit the METROPOL WEBSITE, create an account, and log in to check your status.
- Last but not least, you can download the METROPOL CRISTOBAL APP, install the app on your phone, then log in to verify your CRB.
2. Contact The Person or Company That Listed You On CRB
After knowing who listed you on CRB, you can now contact them. Write an email, call, text, WhatsApp them or use any of their social media platforms to reach them. Ask them to delist you from CRB and pay what you owe them.
The better part is that you can be delisted if you promise to pay them in installments and stick to your promise. However, if you do not pay them as by the time agreed, you will be relisted again, and this may ruin your credit history forever.
After paying them, you are supposed to make a follow-up with them to check if they removed your name from CRB. But long delays might need you to call them in person and remind them to remove your name.
3. Apply For A CRB Certificate
The last step on how to clear from CRB is applying for a CRB certificate.
Once you have confirmed that you have been removed from CRB you can now apply for your clearance certificate. Dial *433# or use the Metropol CRB Kenya login details and request your certificate. For this application, you will be charged 2200ksh for the certificate. The money will be paid through MPESA.
How to Apply for a CRB Certificate:
- Go to your MPESA menu
- Select Lipa na MPESA
- Enter the Metropol business number 220388
- For the account number section, type your ID number
- Enter amount which is 2200
- Enter your MPESA PIN, then select OK or Send.
