Woman In Custody After Stabbing Husband To Death After A Night Out In Uasin Gishu County
According to verified police, a woman was detained in Elgon View Estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, for reportedly fatally stabbing her spouse after a night out.
Wycliffe Muriithi Miriti, 33, died while receiving treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret. Winnie Maina, 35, is suspected of stabbing him.
The accused was taken into custody by officials from the Langas police station, according to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Gitonga.
“A security guard at the estate informed police that the couple arrived at their house from a local pub at around 4.30 am on Monday, August 22, before a fight ensued,” Gitonga said
The alleged attacker was cut with a knife. In the meantime, Eldoret High Court deputy registrar Rosemary Onkoba gave police permission to detain the suspect for a week while they conduct their inquiries.
Before being officially charged, the suspect must undergo a mental evaluation, the court said. The matter is scheduled to be discussed on August 29, 2022.
