Kivuta Kibwana Joins Kenya Kwanza Coalition
Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, the outgoing governor of Makueni County, has joined the Kenya Kwanza political party of the incoming president, William Ruto.
Professor Kibwana will join the Kenya Kwanza legal team in the ongoing presidential election appeal brought by the Azimio coalition, Ruto stated on Tuesday.
“We associate with the leadership that Prof. Kivutha Kibwana has manifested in agreeing to work with us in furthering our country’s development agenda. The Makueni Governor will join the Kenya Kwanza legal team in the ongoing presidential election petition,” said Ruto in a tweet.
At Ruto’s official Karen mansion, Prof. Kibwana was welcomed to Kenya Kwanza along with other leaders.
As a major member of the Raila Odinga-led Azimio La Umoja alliance, Kibwana’s decision to join the Kenya Kwanza side is unexpected.
Kibwana was defeated by Dan Maanzo in the Makueni Senatorial contest during the recently-concluded elections on August 9.
