DPP Takes Action Over The Viral Ruto Incitement Vedio

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and parliamentarian Junet Mohamed shared the footage that has been going viral on social media. The fabricated film shows the deputy president urging Uasin Gishu inhabitants to reject people from other regions.

The videos, according to Haji, are likely to incite violence and may provoke panic among communities.

“The alleged remarks and or alleged doctored/altered video clips are capable of propagating ethnic incitement vilification of others or incitement to cause harm and incitement to feelings of contempt hatred, hostility violence or discrimination against any person, group or community on the basis of ethnicity,” the DPP said.

The DPP gave the inspector general of police a week to look into the situation, complete it, and report back to his office.

The DPP’s action comes shortly after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) demanded that the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) look into the doctored video footage that was released on the social media accounts of MP Junet Mohamed and Governor Hassan Joho.

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina requested that the commission take action against the two, claiming that they intended to incite violence through inciting animosity, racial prejudice, and strife.

“This video is a choreographed version intended to cause, elicit and spread hate, incitement to violence, ethnic discrimination, and disharmony. This video has also been intentionally edited with a deliberate aim and objective to cause ethnic hatred, fear, and intolerance during this peak political season,” said Maina.
