Muslim Leaders Demand Apology From CS Magoha After Labeling A Female Journalist As AlShabab Because She Was Wearing A Hijab
Muslim leaders council wants George Magoha, the education cabinet secretary, to be punished for his anti-Shabaab comments made in front of a female journalist at a press conference.
A female Muslim reporter wearing a hijab asked the CS a question at the event, but the CS refused to respond and instead demanded to know her origin and whether she was speaking on behalf of the Al-Shabbab.
The Muslim Council of Kenya, according to capitalfm, referred to this as religious profiling and claimed that Magoha’s views threaten the freedom of religion guaranteed by the constitution.
The Muslim leaders want President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire the Education CS for what they call careless utterances, and they also want the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) to look into the situation.
When journalists arrived to cover a ceremony when he set the cornerstone for the second phase of CBC junior classrooms in Nairobi two weeks ago, Magoha made the comments.
