24 Year Old Linet Chepkorir Wins Bomet County Women Rep Seat
Following the general elections held on August 9, 2022, Linet Chepkorir Toto, 24, was declared the victor for the Bomet Women representative seat after receiving 242,775 votes.
Toto, who was running on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, overcame all odds to defeat Alice Milgo of CCM, who finished in second place with a margin of more than 200,000 votes.
More than 8 people vied for the hotly fought post. Others were Hellen Taplilei with 1,665 votes, Susan Koech with 1,247, Viola Tesot with 1,740, Beatrice Chebomui with 4,649 votes, Florence Birir with 2,045, and Susan Korir with 1,275.
YToto expressed her gratitude to the citizens of Bomet for supporting her and casting their votes for her shortly after receiving her certificate from IEBC. She committed to take her position seriously and advised the young people to develop their self-confidence and seek out leadership roles.
