13 Romantic And Cheap Places To Visit Of Fun Activities For Couples In Nairobi
For as little as a thousand Kenyan shillings, one can experience passion while trail biking through a forest, drinking sodas in a park, visiting a museum, or even watching animals being fed at a zoo. There are many fun things you can do together at these cost-effective destinations. However, some are also distinguished by seclusion and tranquility, which makes them perfect for a romantic environment. Moreover, by using these unique date suggestions, you have a chance to win some points.
Fortunately, Nairobi, the most cosmopolitan city in East Africa, is teeming with these beautiful locations. I’ve compiled a list of 13 affordable locations to go on a date in Nairobi to give you a head start.
1.Uhuru Park
In the heart of the city, Uhuru Park is a perfect place to unwind and forget about dating norms. You can stroll together or, even better, run to the top of the hill to admire the beauty of the city. Selfies are a great way to remember your special occasions. Due to the heavy traffic the park experiences on non-holidays and weekends, these are the best times to visit. Ksh 100 for children and Ksh 200 for adults are required to enter the park.
2.Karura Forest
A serene, romantic, and calm retreat can be found in Karura Forest. The solitude and peace you experience as you stroll beneath the canopies are very reviving. You’ll feel as though the birds are an integral part of your romance tale thanks to their melodic chimes. Just remember to pack a few snacks, your walking shoes, and one hundred Kenyan shillings for the entrance charge. You can rent a bike for Kshs 500 for a two-hour cycling experience, and there are more than 30 kilometers of hiking and cycling paths nearby. On Limuru Rd., immediately across from the Belgian Embassy, is where the main entrance is located.
3.Nairobi Safari Walk
Take your significant other to experience some of the diverse wildlife the nation has to offer for just 300 bob per head, including the endangered bongo, white rhino, albino zebra, big cats, antelopes, and primates. It’s a great spot to spend time with loved ones while strolling along a high wooden boardwalk and taking in the stunning fauna.
4.The Nairobi Arboretum
A few kilometers outside of Nairobi’s central business district sits The Arboretum, a sizable open space that resembles a dense forest. The indigenous trees and gently sloping grounds create a continual cool wind that is perfect for fostering romance, therefore I think it was designed with lovebirds in mind. The serene environment is ideal for a relaxing picnic in the woods while seeing the monkeys hunt for food. Additionally, there are several gravelly meandering paths there where you can go on romantic long walks. Adult tickets cost KSH 50, while kid tickets cost KSH 20.
5.Giraffe center
The Giraffe Center is one of my favorite Nairobi attractions. The Karen Giraffe Center, which houses the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, is the ideal place to spend quality time with your significant other while feeding and even kissing the adorable giraffes. There is a lovely nature trail across from the center’s entrance where you may unwind and joke with your date. The cost is as little as 400 Ksh.
6.Ngong Hills
Hikers love to visit the renowned Ngong highlands. If you and your spouse want to relax, this is the perfect location for a picnic. You’ll be greeted to a breathtaking view of Nairobi to the northeast if you set out an afternoon to take in the unique experience of ascending these renowned hills. You can begin by going on a hike over the hills, pack a picnic, and then proceed to stroll along the ridge for a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Entry tickets cost Kshs 200 apiece, and visiting hours are from 8 am to 4 pm.
7.Paradise Lost
Nairobi is 10 minutes away by car from the 54-acre coffee estate that is located on the outskirts of Kiambu town. Come spend precious moments with your partner by the caverns and waterfall while snapping selfies to save the memories. The basic entrance price is Kshs 400; boat trips, horseback rides, cave tours, and ziplines cost an extra Kshs 300 each
8.The Godown Arts Center
Godown Arts Center is the ideal location for a date if you and your significant other enjoy attending plays, concerts, and art exhibits. Here, you may see the combination of open cultural events, workshops, and exhibitions of current creative arts in its purest form. Get lost in the moment with your sweetheart while taking in original performances by your favorite local performers. Don’t forget to collect mementos to commemorate your significant occasions.
9.The Nairobi National Museum
For a cheap date, I strongly advise going to the Nairobi Museum. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of Kenya’s history and rich culture in addition to having an amazing experience. The museum, which is split into four key themes—culture, nature, history, and modern art—celebrates Kenya’s rich cultural legacy. The Snake Park and Botanical Gardens, as well as a State of the Art Auditorium that occasionally accommodates concerts, movie screenings, and other events, are other attractions located inside the complex. The commercial wing also has dining and retail options, where you may find souvenirs at reasonable costs. Get a Nairobi National Museum & Snake Park package for Kshs 600 apiece at the museum’s Museum Hill location.
10.The 3-D movie theaters experience
In Nairobi, there are many movie theaters where you and your significant other can catch the newest releases. When you watch something you both like, they are great places to hang out. Depending on the movie and the theater, movie tickets cost between Ksh. 600 and Ksh. 800. On certain days, select movie theaters also offer special discounts just for couples. A few of the movie theaters in Nairobi are Century Cinemax Junction, Anga Diamond Plaza, Anga Imax Kenya – 20th Century, Anga Sky Cinema, Century Imax – Garden City, Fox Cineplex Sarit, Prestige Cinemas, and Westgate Cinema.
11. GP Karting
If you’re looking for some action-packed speed, put your racing shoes on and head over to Wilson Airport’s GP Karting circuit, which is located just off Langata Lane. No prior driving experience is required because the professionals will guide you and assure your safety. Let your girlfriend win and act like a gentleman. But if you both have experience behind the wheel, you can ultimately decide who is the superior driver. The cost is 1300 ksh.
12.Psycho 60 Escape Rooms
Along Elgeyo Marakwet North Rd. sits Psycho 60 Escape Rooms, a genuine escape room experience. It’s a terrific place for date night entertainment because you and your spouse get to work together to locate clues, crack codes, decipher messages, and find hidden objects in order to escape. The fact that each area is unique and that you should be able to escape in 60 minutes makes it more interesting. Therefore, to successfully complete the job, you’ll need to use both your creative abilities and your teamwork. Tickets cost 800/= throughout the week and 1000/= on weekends.
13.Michuki park
Another great place for a date is the Michuki Memorial Park, which opened to the public in July 2020. Take stroll in the park and enjoy your prepared lunch while listening to birds sing and watching ducks play in the water when it’s shaded. Since they are not allowed, I advise against bringing any plastic water bottles. There is no entrance fee for the park.
